Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Instructors
Wing Chun
 MASTER DAVID CHAN’s journey into marital arts began with Wing Chun in 1956 in Hong Kong with
Grand Master Yip Man. He moved to Canada in 1966 and by chance met
Grand Master Stan Lee. Since 1969 he has been involved in numerous martial arts clubs leading to his current
position at the Ging Wu.
 SIFU BARRIE SCHULHA has studied Wing Chun Kung Fu for over 30 years. In the 1960’s he competed in karate, judo and Olympic-style wrestling. As a wrestler, he represented Canada in international competitions in Europe and Asia. In 1970 Sifu
Schulha began his Wing Chun training and was the first non-Chinese student of the legendary Wing Chun
Master Leung Chi Chuen
(Geoffrey
Leung). Barrie has coached hundreds of wrestlers to provincial and even national championship titles. He was the coach for the Canadian female team at the US Grand Nationals. Sifu
Schulha is currently a Wing Chun instructor at the Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Martial Art Association.
 SIFU JOHNNY KWAN started his martial arts training 25 years ago in Hong Kong under the legendary
Master Geoffrey Leung. Sifu Kwan is currently teaching Wing Chun to students in the Edmonton area.
 SIFU EDMOND POON began his training in Hong Kong in 1969. He practiced various kung fu styles eventually concentrating on Wing Chun. Sifu Poon teaches alongside
his Sihing's Sifu Johnny &
Sifu Barrie at the Ging Wu Kung Fu Club.
 SIFU GEORGE BORN 's foray into martial
arts started in 1969 training for 19 months in the art of Jiu-Jitsu. His
interest & hard work in wing chun, under the guidance of Sifu
Barrie, has brought him from his start in 1991 to his present position.
As an instructor at Ging Wu, Sifu George professes a love for weapons.
Hung Gar
 SIFU BRENDAN LEE began his martial arts training under the watchful eyes of his father and uncle,
Grand Master Stan Lee and Sensei Dale
Lee. Honing his skill in the style of Hung Gar,
he had the privilege of learning from many past and present
instructors through the Canadian Ging Wu. Sifu Lee achieved much success and respect in many
competitions through out western Canada and the U.S. He is now dedicating his time
to teaching the next generation of martial artists.
 SIFU CHARLIE NGU's participation in marital arts began in 1983 with Wing Chun. About
one year later he met Sifu Chau Wu and turned towards study of Choy Lay Fut. From 1986 to 1993 he joined Shao Lin Siew Quan Martial Arts with
Sifu Chau Wu, Grand Master Stan Lee, and Sifu Steven Kho. During his time he studied kung fu and lion dancing. In 1995, nearly two years after Shao Lin Siew Wu Quan Martial Arts ceased operations, he joined the Canadian Ging Wu under
Grand Master Stan Lee and is training and teaching there to this day.
 SIFU GODWIN CHAN currently residing in Victoria BC has been training and teaching for many years. He began in the style of
Wing Chun studying under his father Master David Chan. Then he focused his energies towards Hung Gar and fine-tuned his skills in
long weapons.
Contemporary Martial Arts
 SENSEI DALE LEE began his journey into
the world of martial arts by training in Chito-Ryu Karate in 1967. He studied
and competed until 1979 under Sensei David Akutagawa. Sensei Lee was a member of
the Alberta Black Belt team and won many championships throughout Canada &
the U.S. Dales highlight was a fourth place ranking in kata at the All Japan
Karate World Tournament held in Toronto, 1975. In 1992 Dale joined his brother,
Sifu Stan Lee at the Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Martial Art Association. As both
an instructor and as a student in Kung Fu. In 1994 his passion for Okinawan
& Chinese weapons earned him a 1st place ranking by the NBL in the Pacific
Northwest Region and a 5th place ranking in North America. Sensei Lee studied
various other styles and philosophies including Hung Gar from his brother, Grand Master
Stan Lee & Sifu Jor Mak. Law Horn Kuen
from Sifu Stephen Kho but always, his principle style being Chito-Ryu Karate.
Sensei/Sifu Dale Lee assumed the presidency of the Ging Wu Association with the
passing of his brother Grand Master Stan Lee
in 2003. He is presently teaching a contemporary martial arts class at the Ging Wu.
